日本におけるリンパ浮腫のほとんどは乳癌や子宮・卵巣癌などの治療後に四肢に発症する二次性リンパ浮腫であり、がん診療の一環として予防指導や治療が行われるべき進行性の後遺症であります。 昨今リンパ浮腫に対する医療者の関心が増し、2013年度から実施されている厚生労働省後援事業「新リンパ浮腫研修」も追加開催が必要なほどである一方で、リンパ浮腫診療に携わる医療者の受け皿となる学会はありませんでした。そんな中で、リンパ浮腫の実態を把握し、科学的根拠に基づいた標準治療の確立ならびに普及を目指して2007年に設立された日本リンパ浮腫研究会は、年次学術集会を開催しつつ、2009年1月に2008年度版リンパ浮腫診療ガイドライン（初版）を出版いたしました（金原出版）。同年度にリンパ浮腫の予防指導と治療のための圧迫材料が療養費として保険収載されるに至り、同官報作成時も本ガイドラインが活用されました。さらに2014年には改訂版を編纂、公益財団法人日本医療機能評価機構（Minds）のガイドライン認定要請を受け、EBMガイドラインとしての地位を確立いたしました。 このたび、日本リンパ浮腫研究会世話人会（2015年10月30日開催）において、８年間の実績を踏まえ、本研究会を母体として学会化への展開が発議され、満場一致で承認されました。これを受け、学会設立準備委員会での審議を経て、リンパ浮腫に関する基礎的ならびに臨床的研究を推進し、当該疾患概念の学術的進歩に貢献するとともに、会員の研究、教育及び臨床力の向上を図ることを目的として、日本リンパ浮腫学会を設立する運びとなりました。 学会設立は平成28年2月28日（設立総会開催日）を予定しております。 皆さまにおかれましては、設立趣旨にご理解・ご賛同を賜り、ふるってご入会頂きますようお願い申し上げます。
